Privacy Policy

Last updated: 3 August 2026

This policy covers scarylasers.com and VideoAssistant, a private desktop application used by SCARYLASERS to publish its own videos.

SCARYLASERS is an independent musician and artist. VideoAssistant is a personal tool that runs on the operator's own computer. It is not distributed, not sold, and has no users other than its operator.

Use of YouTube API Services

VideoAssistant uses YouTube API Services. By using it you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service.

Google's handling of data is described in the Google Privacy Policy.

Revoking access. Access that VideoAssistant holds to a YouTube account can be revoked at any time from the Google security settings page at https://security.google.com/settings/security/permissions. Revoking access immediately and permanently stops the application from being able to upload.

What the application accesses

VideoAssistant requests a single OAuth scope: https://www.googleapis.com/auth/youtube.upload.

This scope permits uploading a video and nothing else. It cannot read, change or delete videos, comments, playlists, subscriptions, analytics or any other data already on the channel. It was chosen deliberately in preference to broader scopes so that the application has no ability to affect existing content.

The only YouTube API method used in normal operation is videos.insert, which uploads a video file created by the operator to the operator's own channel. During first-time authorisation the application additionally attempts channels.list (limited to the operator's own channel) purely to confirm which channel was authorised; with the upload-only scope this call is refused by Google and the application continues without it.

What is stored, and for how long

Nothing else obtained from YouTube API Services is stored. No YouTube content, metadata, statistics, analytics or user information is retained, and none is copied into any database, cache or third-party service.

No metrics are derived from YouTube data. The application performs no analysis, aggregation or reporting on YouTube data of any kind.

Data about other people

VideoAssistant has no users other than its operator, no accounts, no sign-up, and no login. It does not collect, process or store personal information about anyone else, and it does not share data with any third party.

Footage published through the application is recorded by SCARYLASERS. Where other people appear in that footage, it is published with their knowledge. Anyone appearing in a published video may ask for it to be removed using the contact address below.

This website

scarylasers.com is a static page. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and has no advertising or third-party tracking. Web fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives the request as a normal consequence of your browser fetching them. Links to YouTube, Twitch, TikTok, Instagram, Discord and Ko-fi lead to those services, which have their own privacy policies.

Deletion

To have the OAuth token destroyed, revoke access at the Google security settings page linked above; the stored token becomes useless immediately and is deleted from the machine. To request deletion of anything else described here, write to the contact address below and it will be actioned within 30 days.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the date at the top of this page will be updated.
